Weather Forecasters

Brandon Crowder

This activity for lower intermediate students allows them to role-play as weather forecasters and practice vocabulary related to the weather. First, they may watch an example, such as the following:

After seeing an example that serves as a model, the students are then instructed to draw/color their own weather forecast graphic, similar to the one in the above video. This may be five days or a week, for example. Also, they may include both day and night forecasts. It's up to the teacher to dictate these parameters. Furthermore, if the teacher prefers, the students may digitally design the graphics instead of putting them on paper. One important note is that the students should be instructed to provide variety in their forecasts so that they practice all of the target vocabulary. Students then prepare their speaking parts to role-play as weather forecasters. Once all is finished, students present their work. This activity may be completed as individuals or in pairs. Creativity is encouraged.
